Perfect weeks for everyone
Week 13 Spreads |
With Thankgsgiving Day games starting early in the day, Week 13 spreads
have been posted and picks can be made.
We also remind players that this is the week when any five games
on the schedule can be picked and there is no requirement to
pick at least two college and two pro games.
Everyone please have a happy and safe Thanksgiving, and good
luck this weekend.
|
Well, not really.
But the pool nearly matched it's all-time record for a single week when
42 perfect weeks were handed out with a total of $2,310 spilling from
the pot. The record is 45 in Week 10 of the 2012 season when there were
356 players in the pool.
The longest streak to come to an end was 105 weeks by Ron Powell
who got his first career perfect week in his sixth year in the pool.
Not scoring one of the 42 perfectos was Mike Feder, who
was 4-for-5 for the third time this season and extended his historic
streak to 193 weeks without a perfect week.
Fifteen players got their second perfect week of he year.
With the raiding of the pot, the projection for the first place prize
has dropped below $5,000 for the first time. There are still seven weeks
left to build it back up.
Freedom of choice
This is the first week that players can pick any five games in the point
spreads. The requirement to pick at least to college and two NFL games
is off for the rest of the season.
Important reminder: Because all college and pro teams now appear in
every drop down menu, remember that college teams go by the school name
and NFL teams go the by mascot. So if you pick Arizona, make sure it was
the Wildcats you wanted and not the Cardinals. There are nine college
teams that share the same name as NFL franchises, Arizona, Buffalo,
Cincinnati, Houston, Miami, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and
Washington.
A post by Founding Father
Thomas Heleba on the
Pigskin Mania Facebook page prompted us to look into who might
benefit the most from the being able to pick from a preferred category
of NCAA or NFL.
Below is the list of the five players with the greatest disparity in
winning percentage between NCAA and NFL games. The chart shows each
player's season winning percentage in the two categories and the
difference.

This and that
-
The top of the standings bunched up with a
three-way tie for first place. Only five point separate the top 10
spots in the standings.
-
There's a new
Asshander in town and it belongs to the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
Fresh off an appearance in the Pigskin Special, Texas Tech went into
the black hole as the current Asshander of the Year in a 66-10 loss
to Iowa St. as a 3.5-point favorite. The -59.5 differential is only
3.5 points short of the All-Time Asshander held by Wisconsin.
-
This week's Pigskin
Special was an easy choice with Michigan and Ohio St., two teams
currently in the hunt for a College Football Playoff berth, facing
off in Columbus. Kickoff is 10 a.m. MST (noon, EST) so get your
picks in early if you plan to get in on one of the biggest games of
the college football season.
