A Longer Season for Year 33
Here we go again.
Season 33 of Pigskin Mania is coming up and is coming
off a season that topped 1,000 entries for the first
time. That led to a record first-place prize of $5,744
won by dstuart who scored a perfect
week in the last week of the season to win the pool.

page. Accounts are up to date as of Aug. 12, including
Tour Mania
winnings through the Wyndham Championship.
There are some big changes in college football so you
can expect some big changes in Pigskin Mania.
The most significant change is the length of the season.
With the advent of the 12-team College Football Playoff,
the season will go 21 weeks from Labor Day weekend, Aug.
29-Sept. 2, through the CFP championship on Jan. 20,
2025. The season has ranged from 18 to 20 weeks over the
history of the pool, so this will be the longest season
ever.
The last two weeks will have limited schedules. Week 20
will have two CFP semifinal games and six NFL playoff
games. The final week will have four NFL playoff games
and the CFP championship.

forms. The free application and database we’ve been
using for years went haywire on us in Tour Mania a
couple of weeks ago so we bit the bullet and are now
paying for an application that already is reaping
benefits of being more efficient. You’ll notice the
difference when you get to the pages.
We're still
learning the new program so some of the past design
elements may take time to show up. We are trying to get
rid of the green background on the confirmation pages.
Players can expect a heavy dose of college games in the
Pigskin Special this season
with all the great, new conference matchups that will be
sprinkled throughout the season. We won’t ignore the NFL
and will take the obvious key matchups, but you will see
more college games in the Special at least for this
first season with the new conference alignments.
As always, Week 1 is an all-college schedule. The NFL
kicks in for Week 2 and will be on the schedule the rest
of the season. There were some excellent choices for the
Week 1 Special and we have tentatively settled on the
most even matchup among them − Notre Dame at Texas A&M
with the Aggies a 1-point favorite.

posted to get your football conversations started. The
official lines will go up on Aug. 29 and we’ll be on our
way for season 33.
