Final Standings

Note from The Poolmaster: The first inclination when one wins their own pool is to somehow apologize for having success. However, that thought was only fleeting when the final buzzer sounded in the championship game as my son Adam, a March Mania participant, took about three seconds to say, "Dad, you know they're gonna think you cheated." At that point I justified my victory by reminding Adam that I don't run these pools as some sort of community service. I really hope to win. So I will take my victory with the thought that this just means March Mania will continue to exist for years to come because now that I've won the pool, I'm happy to spend the time on it that I do. So thanks for playing and we'll see most of you in the fall for Pigskin Mania.

NOTE: An inquiry has been made into the use of Paypal. I do have a Paypal account under my e-mail address that you can use to transfer funds. However, the only way to use this is if you have a Paypal account that allows you to make a direct transfer from your account to mine. There are no fees involved in this type of transaction.   1. Players will select 8 teams from the field of 64 using the form at the bottom of this page. E-mail, phone or fax entries are not allowed.

  2. The Play-In Game on Tuesday before the first round of the tournament is not part of this pool. You may select those teams, but their games do not count until they are in the field of 64.

  3. The teams you select each have a point value based on their seeding. Point values are as follows:

  1. Points are scored as follows:

  • For each win in the first weekend of the tournament (first and second rounds) a team scores points equal to its point value.

  • In the second weekend (Sweet 16 and Elite Eight) point values are multiplied by 2. For each win, a team scores points equal to its point value times 2.

  • In the final weekend (Final Four) point values are multiplied by 3. For each win, a team scores points equal to its point value times 3.

  1. The object is to score the most points.

  1. There are no tiebreakers. In case of a tie, prize money will be split.

  2. Entries must be submitted using the form below no later than 9 a.m., MST (Noon EDT),  Thursday, March 19, 2009. No fax, phone or e-mail entries will be accepted.

  3. Players may submit multiple entries. If you have multiple entries be sure each entry is numbered. If you are submitting only one entry, you do not need to give it an entry number.

  4. Players may change picks up until the deadline for entries. If you want to make a change, simply resubmit picks under the same name and entry number of the entry you are changing. Entries are time stamped, so if there are multiple entries under the same name, the last entry submitted will be the one that counts.

  5. Standings will be updated on this site after each round.
